Karl Anthony has been an integral part of the Whole Being Weekend for many years. His performances feature a synthesis of eastern and western musical styles, such as the infusion of kirtan call-and-response chants. These are mixed in with a little acoustic rock and Karl’s amazing story telling. Anthony says, “singing together is a pathway to pure joy and a quiet acceptance of the bitter sweetness of life.”

Middle Earth Ensemble

The Middle-Earth Ensemble is a San Diego based group that performs music for belly dance and other festive occasions at many local venues. Their gypsy-infused sound has fueled the hips of many a belly dancer in the Southern California area, and has led to their popularity in San Diego . The musicians derive their influences from many different styles, including Arabic, Persian, Turkish, folk, jazz, classical, rock and improvisational music. The music of Middle-Earth Ensemble represents a unique fusion and blending to create their original sound.

Dan Cartimil

Dan Cartamil is a multi-instrumentalist with over 30 years of playing experience, and an advanced student of Afro-Cuban rhythms. His mission is to heighten musical consciousness within the drum circle community through fun and funkiness! When not beating his congas, he moonlights as a shark researcher and conservation photographer at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Dan will be providing instruments and leading a 2 hour drum circle Saturday Afternoon.

Kelly Bryson, M.A., MFT is the Director of The Center for Compassion, a community organization providing education in Compassionate Nonviolent Communication? to organizations and individuals, and conflict resolution locally and internationally. He is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice working with individuals, couples, and families, and a Certified Trainer for the Center for Nonviolent Communication since 1984. Kelly Bryson is the author of Don’t be Nice, Be Real—Balancing Passion for Self with Compassion for Others an NVC handbook. He is also a contributing author to the anthology The Marriage of Sex and Spirit. Kelly is a Communitarian, workshop facilitator, consultant. humorist, singer, songwriter and developer of “Tribal Technologies” for the growth of communities and organizations of every description. Kelly will be teaching the workshop “Waking up Together thru connection/intimacy/transparency games/processes. Subtitle: “It takes a village to raise a consciousness.”

R. GRANT RAMEY has a Ph.D. in somatic psychology, enhancing the function of the body and mind to facilitate spiritual awareness. From an early age Grant was a good athlete. One day after surfing Grant had a revelation when all at once he felt pain in the knee, aching in the shoulder, constriction in the back, and tension in the mouth. An inner voice said this would get worse unless he changed the way he moved through life. He slowed down, let go of sports, and tried many methods such as Hatha Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, and Tai Chi. Grant was a certified Rolfer for three years. The most effective practice he found was at The Center of The Form where he became educational director. He began his own work of Embodiment in 1982 and invented the best relaxation support system ever: The EmbodiChair™. Grant teaches EmbodiMoves™, as a way of sustaining comfort in all activities that does not require any postures or exercises. Grant will be sharing two workshops: “Embodiment of Loose & Natural Movement” & “Embodiment of Comfortable Positions”

Joel Vorensky

Joel Vorensky

Joel Vorensky is the author of three recognized and reviewed classic inspirational books. “I Dare to Heal with Laughter” is his latest one. The books span the 60’s through present time. Joel is tri-lingual and has a background since 1972 as a counselor. He holds degrees in Business, Education, and a Master’s in Psychology of Human Behavior. He has lived in New York, Scandinavia, and San Diego since 1986. In addition to his counseling practice he offers small group, Covered California, and Medicare Plans. Mr. Vorensky has decades of background with a variety of holistic methods. In his “Animated Laughter with Feelings” class he integrates a variety of methods which include emotional discharge, meditation, body work, sacred sanskrit music, slapstick, and play. The class is dynamic and all are welcome. Joel will be sharing the workshop: “Animated Laughter with Feelings”.
